1. About Guangzhou University

Guangzhou University (GU) is a comprehensive key public university jointly supported by Guangdong Provincial Government and Guangzhou Municipal Government. The university aims to become “a top university in China and a prestigious university in the world”. It is currently making all efforts to build itself into a high-level university. GU has two campuses with a total floor area of 2,300 mu. The main campus is located in the southwest of Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center. GU has a total of 2,500 full-time faculty members and over 34,000 bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral students.

2. Mission of Forum

Guangzhou University 2017 International Forum for Young Scholars and Academics is designed to assemble excellent young scholars and academics home and abroad in the designated areas through symposiums, seminars, and interviews, strengthening academic ties & collaboration and absorbing young scholars and academics for the national One Thousand Talents Program.

3. Disciplines and Key Research Areas

Excellent young scholars and academics worldwide in the following disciplines and research areas are welcome. Relevant disciplines include: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information & Communication Engineering, Controlling Science & Engineering, Computer Science & Technology, Software Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Rural & Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Traffic and Transportation Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Electronic Science & Technology, Environmental Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering & Technology, Mechanics, Mathematics, Biology, Astronomy, Geography, Physics, and Chemistry. And the key research areas are: Intelligent Manufacturing, Mobile Data Science and Engineering, Geography of Southern China, Sustainable Urban Development and Living Environment, Development of Urban Underground Resources and Space in the Pearl River Delta, Life Science and Human Health.

4. Requirements for Participants

Interested young scholars and academics are expected to have a PhD degree from a world well-known university in the fields of natural sciences or engineering; Moreover, they are expected to be under the age of 40 and have research experience overseas for 3 consecutive years with considerable achievements and outstanding academic potential and willingness to apply for the National One Thousand Talent Program.

5. Application Procedure

Step I. On-line Registration

Applicants submit registration before 25 May 2017 via the following link: http://xzlt.gzhu.edu.cn.

Step 2. Letter of Invitation

Invitation Letter to participants will be issued by 5 May 2017 via email.

Step3. Confirmation of attendance

Applicants confirm attendance within 7 days upon receiving the Invitation Letter.

6. Expenses for  Forum Travel and Accommodation

Invited participants’expenses for forum travel and on-campus accommodation will be covered by Guangzhou University.
