An Introduction of College of Construction Engineering, Jilin University

The College of Construction Engineering (CCE) consists of seven departments and eight research institutes, with 138 teaching and administrative staff, among which there are three academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, two distinguished professors of “Thousand Talent Program”, 18 doctoral advisors, 30 full professors, 29 associate professors, and 30 adjunct professors. There are nearly two thousand students of all levels.

The discipline of geological resources and geological engineering of CCE is a first-class national key discipline and the discipline of geological engineering is a subordinate national key discipline. This college has one postdoctoral program, two doctoral programs, five master programs, two provincial key disciplines, and two undergraduate disciplines of geological and civil engineering. The talent faculty team includes many well-known professors both at home and abroad such as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.

In terms of research platforms, CCE has currently one national & local joint engineering laboratory, three ministerial key laboratories and one provincial engineering laboratory, i.e. the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory of In-situ Conversion, Drilling and Exploitation Technology for Oil Shale, the Key Lab of the Drilling and Exploitation Technology in Complicated Condition of the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Engineering Research Center of Geothermal Resources Development of the Ministry of Education, the Key Lab of the Earth Information Detecting Instrument of the Ministry of Education, the Engineering Lab of Geotechnical Engineering Environment of Jilin Province，the Key Lab of Water Resources and Water Environment of Jilin Province. Besides, the college contains three university-level research centers.

In scientific research, recently CCE has undertaken and completed more than 200 various research projects from the national “863” Program, national Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Land & Resources, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, Jilin province, Chinese Geological Survey Bureau and so on.

CCE has established long-term international cooperation in scientific research, academic communication and personnel training with more than 20 universities and research institutions of Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Austria, Spain and other countries and regions.

Jilin University (JLU), located in Changchun, Jilin Province, is a state key comprehensive university directly operated by the Ministry of Education of China. It was founded in 1946, listed as a key national university in 1960, and become one of the first 22 universities authorized to provide graduate programs in China with a reputation for excellence in research and teaching. Now JLU is the first batch of universities in China sponsored by “211” and “985” Projects.

The College of Construction Engineering (see Appendix for introduction of this college) of JLU is seeking to hire various faculty members of professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and postdoc on civil engineering and geologic engineering. Specifically, the candidates should have scholarly expertise in at least one of the following areas: architectural engineering, road and bridge engineering, underground engineering, geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, drilling and exploration engineering, petroleum engineering, hydrogeology, and environmental sciences.

The faculty members are expected to (a) abide by the constitution and laws of the People’s Republic of China, (b) devote to the cause of higher education of China, (c) have good conduct and professional ethics, (d) have a PhD degree and be widely recognized with academic achievements, (e) be able to provide leadership in promoting academic and educational excellence, and (f) work full time in Changchun, China.

The successful applicants will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise graduate students, establish an active research program, and participate in the academic affairs of the university. We will encourage and help the successful applicants to apply for suitable talent programs, including 1,000 Talent Plan and/or 10,000 Talent Plan Experts, Cheung Kong Scholars Programme Professors, NSF Distinguished Young Scholars, and various local talent programs.

5.Documents or certificates of major scientific projects the candidate participated as a PI or a major member

Above-mentioned documents are supposed to be printed on an A4 paper and submitted to the Department of Human Resources of Jilin University. The applications will be evaluated in late April and an interview on campus will be arranged once applicants pass the initial screening process. All application materials will not be returned to the applicants.
